Sign Up for Soccer Camps at Wamogo

The Warren Park and Rec. is sponsoring two weeks of soccer camps at Wamogo this summer.

The first is the week of August 4th, in the evenings from 5:30 - 8:30 PM with Flavio’s Soccer School

Flavio is a wonderful instructor with a gentle manner, loads of experience and knowledge of the game. This camp is open for players age 8 +. Deadline to register is July 26th.

The second is the week of August 18th. This is a MLS camp. There is an option of 5 and 6 year olds to attend from 9 - 10:30 AM. For age 7+ there is a half day, 9 AM - 12 PM or a full day, 9 AM to 3 PM option.

For the Middle School Players we are offering a MLS TEAM CAMP during the week of August 18th in the evenings from 5 - 8 PM.  These players must sign up via email at wamagofutbolclub@gmail.com immediately as space is limited to the first 18 players.

Warren Parks and Recreation Offerings for the Summer

Warren Parks and Recreation has several program offerings for great summer activities.

Swimming lessons - From July 7 through July 18th for infants to age 16. Registration by July 1st.

Summer gymnastics with Miss Sherry Dance and Fitness Links. June 23-June 27 and June 30-July 3. Classes for 3-5 years old and 6-8 years old. Six students are needed for each class.

Goshen Summer Sports Camps & Clinics are open to Warren residents. This program, sponsored by Goshen Recreation offers five programs for children ages 3-14 years. Multi Sports Camps, Sport Squirts Camps, Field Hockey Clinic and Tennis Clinic run at various times throughout the summer.

2008 Memorial Day Parade

The annual Memorial Day Parade will be held in the center of Warren on Sunday May 25th at 12:00 Noon.

Rabies Clinic

Thursday, May 22nd, 2008

There will be a low cost Rabies Clinic on May 31 from 2pm to 4pm at the Washington Town Garage on Blackville Road. Cost will be $15 each for dogs or cats.

Plan of Conservation & Development Meeting

Monday, April 7th, 2008

The Warren Plan Committee will meet at 7 p.m., Wednesday, April 9, at Warren Town Hall (lower level) to continue to work on the Warren Town Plan of Conservation and Development. The committee will review “Booklet #6 - Infrastructure Strategies,” which discusses community services and facilities, including town buildings and facilities, recreational facilities, transportation and road systems, trails and walkways and utility services.

Nancy Haimerl will be contacting T.A.H.D. and will then be getting back to Warren Conservation Commission.
C.) Letter sent out to Robert Richardson from Craig Nelson, dated 1/29/08.
RE: Stone Foundation with a trellis over the electric service. Both of the stone walls fall within the 100’ regulated area from the lake. A permit from the Wetlands Commission would be necessary. Letter confirming phone conversation from Craig Nelson, Chairman. Letter submitted to the file.
D.) Copy of a letter to Southview Builders RE: 208 Kent Road, Warren dated 2/7/08 from Craig Nelson. Driveway has been filled with old construction debris; this material in a wetland or regulated area is a violation of the Wetlands Regulations under Connecticut State Statutes 22A. Also, when putting in the driveway the spring was cut into. Letter confirming phone conversation from Craig Nelson, Chairman. Letter submitted to the file.
E.) Copy of the fall 2007 Habitat was passed out to members of the Commission.

CORRESPONDENCE:
A.) Received a Membership Application Form from the CT. Association of Wetlands Scientist; along with information on the 2008 CAWS Annual Meeting scheduled for Tuesday, February 26, 2008: Registration Form attached.
Craig Nelson, Chairman will check into this through their website to see if this Commission would benefit from becoming a member.

DESIGNATION OF ALTERNATE MEMBERS:

The chair will seat Alternate, James Schullery for Bob Bolte.

Robyn Kasler & Jack Baker - both Alternate Members attended meeting but were not seated as voting members.

MINUTES:

The minutes of the Regular Meeting of 12/11/07 were approved on a motion made by Thomas Sarsfield, seconded by Howard Lethbridge. Passed unanimously.

At this time, Stephen Jacobs recused himself from the meeting.

The following Application was added to the Agenda on a motion made by John Miller, seconded by James Schullery. Passed unanimously.

Ann Martindale, Applicant/Owner; (Map #46, Lot #7-01), 11 Bliss Road, Warren, CT: Renovation of existing garage to include new roof and second story. Attached is a copy of the Certificate of Variance granted to Ann Martindale on 11/28/07 - Varying Section 7.1 of our Zoning Regulations.

At this time Commissioners expressed their difficulty with the Approval that was given to Ann Martindale from the ZBA Board. According to the CT. State Statutes: Section 8-11 – Disqualification of members of zoning authorities, Stephen Jacobs should not have represented Ann Martindale’s Application at the November 28, 2007 ZBA meeting. Stephen Jacobs is not the owner of record on the deed of the property at 11 Bliss Road, Warren, CT. The recommendation was to Table the Application until next month, and ask the Town Attorney to give us an opinion as to whether the Variance is valid, motion made by Tom Fahsbender, seconded by Thomas Sarsfield. Passed unanimously.

At this time, Stephen Jacobs returned to the meeting.
OTHER BUSINESS:

A.) Lot Line Revision, Property of the Estate of Elizabeth Bailey, Brick School Road, LLC, Mylar Map #739, Warren, CT. No one came to the meeting to discuss this with the Commission.

B.) Passed out to members a copy of the meeting dates for 2008.

ZEO REPORT:

The report from 12/6/07 to 1/3/08. A motion was made to Accept the report, motion made by Thomas Sarsfield, seconded by Howard Lethbridge. Passed unanimously.

PERMIT #08-1-1: Brian Neff/Agent; Susan Leavitt/Diego Orlanski: Applicant/Owners; 68 Hopkins Road, Warren: Porch Additions to existing house and regrading north of house. A motion was made to Grant the Application, motion made by Thomas Sarsfield, seconded by Henry Brau. Passed unanimously.

OTHER BUSINESS:
A.) Passed out to members a copy of the Meeting Dates for 2008.
B.) Information on a Workshop: Roles & Responsibilities of Land Use Commissioners, January 29, 2008 – Goshen Town Hall.
C.) Craig Nelson commented that Nancy & Duncan Haimerl have done work in a regulated area without the necessary permits. Craig Nelson has tried to get them to get a permit since May 1, 2007. Craig Nelson is requesting a Notice of the wetlands violation be recorded with their deed in the Town Clerk’s Office. The property is shown on the town assessor’s map #26, Lot #8 and located at the intersection of Brick School Road and North Kent Road, Warren, CT. A motion was made by Thomas Sarsfield, seconded by Nancy Binns to attach a Notice of Violation to their deed. Passed unanimously.
D.) Warren’s Conservation Commission received a letter from the State of CT. Department of Environmental Protection approving the Application dated 11/29/07, including plans prepared by Roald Haestad, Inc., and entitled “Shepaug and Peters Dam Modifications for Flow Monitoring”. The site is located in the Towns of Litchfield and Warren. Letter submitted to the file.

A motion was made to adjourn the meeting at 7:07 p.m. motion made by Thomas Sarsfield, seconded by Nancy Binns. Passed unanimously.
