There is a vacancy on the Region 6 Board of Education for a member from Warren. Anyone interested in this position may contact Jack Travers, First Selectman, at 868-9030. The other Board members from Warren are Thomas Sarsfield (868-6801) and Jann Tanner (868-2266).

Voters in the 3 towns of Region 6 passed the 2006-2007 budget in a referendum on Tuesday by a vote of 339-208. Warren voters were 80 yes and 40 no. The budget for 2006-2007 is $15,589,252, an increase of $689,858, or 4.6 percent from the previous year. The enrollment from Warren as of 10/1/05 was 212 or 19.87% of the total student population. Last year’s enrollment was 18.82%. Warren’s assessment will be $2,905,177, a $309,512 or 11.92% increase over last year.The Region 6 portion is 66% of the 2006-2007 Town Budget.

A referendum vote of the electors and citizens qualified to vote in meetings of the Regional School District No. 6, comprising the Towns of Warren, Morris and Goshen, Connecticut, will be held on Tuesday, May 2, 2006, between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. at the following voting places:

(a) for those electors and citizens qualified to vote in the Town of Goshen, at Camp Cochipanee, 291 Beach Street, Goshen, CT.

(b) for those electors and citizens qualified to vote in the Town of Morris, at the Morris Community Hall, 3 East Street, Morris, CT.

(c) for those electors and citizens qualified to vote in the Town of Warren, at the Town Hall, 7 Sackett Hill Road, Warren, CT.

upon the following question:

Shall the Regional School District No. 6 budget for the fiscal year 2006-2007 in the amount of $15,589,252 be approved?

Voters wishing to accept said proposed budget shall vote “yes” and those wishing to reject said proposed budget shall vote “no”.

Electors and citizens qualified to vote in more than one town in the District may only vote once on the question.

Notice is hereby given to persons legally entitled to vote thereat, that the district budget meeting for Regional School District No. 6 will be held at Wamogo Regional High School on May 1, 2006, at 8:00 p.m., in the James M. Eisenhaure Auditorium. The meeting will be adjourned to a referendum vote to take place on May 2, 2006.

Copies of the proposed budget are available at the town clerk’s office in the Towns of Warren, Morris and Goshen.
