Sunday will include Northernbound, a blue grass band, an antique tractor pull, a lumberjack exhibition and the Norwestones, Litchfield County’s own barbershop chorus. Both days will feature home-style apple pies, country pressed cider, pumpkins, and our famous open-pit charcoal roast beef sandwiches and many other mouth-watering delights. For the young at heart there will be a petting zoo, children’s carnival games, demonstrations by the Wamogo FFA, a children’s moonwalk (Bounce House) and fire truck rides. As always the Country Store will be open and many artisans and vendors will be on hand.

Fall News from the Warren Public Library

Friday, September 7th, 2007

This summer was a busy one for the library! Thanks to all who visited the library and supported our new schedule.

We will be starting our Fall schedule with the Future Readers Story hour on Thursday, September 13th at 10 AM. The subject of our first story hour is “Silly Squirrels”. Come hear some stories, make a squirrel craft and enjoy a special snack. Future Readers story hour is for pre-kindergarten children just discovering and learning the fun of books.

On September 29th we will be having an “open house” at the library to come and meet our new Children’s Librarian, Morinda Carlsson. Warren’s Public Library is always an Open house, but on that day Morinda will be here to meet parents. It will also be a time to come in and familiarize yourself with your town library, if you have not been in to visit in a while. Come and meet our staff and check out our facilities. Refreshments will be served. We look forward to meeting you. (It is also “Banned Books Week”. Lists and banned books will be available.)

Warren certainly has Junior Readers they can be proud of! The summer reading program, “Get A Clue”, was very successful. Over thirty children signed up for the program. We had fun learning about fingerprints, going on a micro-hike at Warren Woods(they found seven four leaf clovers!), learning about letterboxing and having a visit from real detective, Caroline Keith from Warren. More importantly our Summer Readers read over 1,300 books! Congratulations to you all.

Did you know - that the library can get books for you through the interlibrary loan service? That we have a copier available at a very nominal fee? That we have wi-fi service available? That we have a good selection of best sellers, current DVD’s and books on CD and tape? Stop by and visit us at our open house and learn all we have to offer.
