An Open Letter to the Warren Park and Rec

Saturday, June 9th, 2007

Roses and thanks for the recent beach clean-up and the upgrading of the Warren Town Beach. The group of volunteers spent a lot of time building, raking and planting so beach goers can admire and enjoy the beautiful plantings. It has been a number of years since we visited the town beach. We were pleasantly surprised with the beauty it still offers and how fortunate Warren is to have such a beach park area on the lake.

We were especially happy to find, finally, a changing area, a remarkable idea that should have been primary to any beach. (What the heck took so long?) This one looks to be a large clean open space to change into or out of swim wear. No more wiggling and struggling in the car to change. No one likes going home in a wet suit.

We are glad that from now on no one will need to use those porta potties to change in. They are a necessary place when nature calls; however, it is just disgusting even to think about changing in one. Does anyone ever clean them, by the way? They feel germ filled, and the thought of bare footed little children going into them, changing and putting on clean, dry clothes in that smelly area makes us shudder. Thank goodness for a new place to change.

The people of Warren can be proud to have such generous area businesses and people who think nothing of lending helping hands in the spirit of community. Hundreds of dollars worth of donations from area businesses, flowers and soil for planting, seeds, fencing, wood, stain and cement - not to mention the hours of hard work by the volunteers make that day and the days ahead a great summer experience.
