Neighbors along Melius Road took community improvement to heart last Saturday, May 28 when they put the finishing touches on the garden at the intersection of Flat Rocks and Melius Roads.

Efforts began last fall when residents of Flat Rocks and Melius decided they wanted to beautify the triangle of land which is the home of flat rocks for which the road which leads from Warren to East Cornwall is named.
Zarinna Mulla of Warren Woods Nursery designed a low maintenance, drought-resistant garden which used native grasses, wildflowers and day lilies.

Early in April neighbors met to remove weeds and plant the day lilies. Work concluded on May 28th when the native grass and wildflower seed was broadcast. Now walkers, runners and cyclists can make the “flat rocks” a destination.

This class offers both strength training and cardio. It is a great class for all fitness levels. Whether you are just beginning an exercise program or have been exercising for a while this class is for you. Guys are welcome too.

Hand weights, resistance bands, jump ropes and stability balls are used in class. This class is held at the Warren Town Hall, Wednesday evening at 7 PM and runs for an hour.

The session runs for 10 weeks at a cost of $100.00. That is only $10.00 per class, and the first class is free to newcomers.

Please call if you are interested and need more information. You can join at any point of session and the price will be adjusted for the balance of the classes remaining.

LEGAL NOTICE

The electors and taxpayers of the Town of Warren are hereby warned a Town Meeting will be held at the Warren Town Hall, 7 Sackett Hill Rd., on Thursday, May 24, 2007 at 8:00 PM for the following purposes:

1. To authorize the Selectmen to enter into agreement with the Connecticut Department of Transportation as to expenditures of funds which will become available as of July 1, 2007.
2. To adopt the 2007-2008 Selectmen’s budget as presented by Board of Finance on May 10, 2007. Copies of proposed budget are available at Town Clerk’s office.
3. To authorize the Town Treasurer to transfer $200,000 from undesignated fund balance to the Capital and Non Recurring fund.
4. To elect the necessary member to the Lake Waramaug Authority.
5. To elect the necessary member to the Regional School Board #6.

The RSD #6 annual budget for 2007-2008 passed by a district wide total of 304 to 259.
The town results were:

There will be a public hearing on the proposed 2007-2008 Town budget on Thursday May 10 at 8 PM in the Town Hall.
