Notes Town Meeting January 26, 2006
Monday, January 30th, 2006Selectman Jack Travers convened a town meeting on January 26 at 8 pm to consider three items of business.
First was the election of a member of the Board of Education to fill out an uncompleted term. Jann Tanner was elected to the position by a unanymous vote of the meeting.
The second item was the approval of the expenditure of up to $100,000 by the selectmen to build a second story on the town hall above the town clerk’s office. Mr. Travers explained that the addition would be done in brick, would provide cold storage in the short run and would solve the problem of water seeping through the flat roof above the town clerk’s office. There was discussion about how this addition fits into the plans for new town office space and whether it would be premature to construct this addition when the town has not yet voted to approve the new town office building. Mr. Travers said that something had to be done to stop the leaks and to provide storage for emergency supplies, regardless of the status of the proposed new office space. The meeting voted to approve the expenditure.
The third item was a motion to approve transfer of funds to the Capital and Nonrecurring line in the budget. This was proposed in response to recommendations of the town’s accountant. This motion passed.
