Northeast Schoolhouse
The one room Northeast School House was on what is now known as Hardscrabble Rd., Warren, Conn. It had been closed for a number of years, but was reopened in September, 1911, after the Krasenics moved from the Bronx, NYC to the 360 acre Comstock Farm in July, 1911.
The teacher was Miss Marion Stone, Merryall, New Milford. It was
her first teaching assignment after graduating from Normal School.
She later married Charles Perkins and did not teach the
following year. Miss Evilyn Tanner was the teacher the following two years.
The Northeast School may have closed after the Krasenics moved from the Comstock Farm to the Morgan Farm on what is now known as Brick School House Rd.
A Miss Keogh taught the school on the NW corner on the junction
of Rt. 341 and Brick School Road. The school house is now part of the house on that corner. A nephew of Mr. Florio lived in that house.[/img]

My mother, Helen Krasenics Clark moved from New York, borough of Manhattan, in 1911 with her 6 or 7 brothers and sisters to the town of Warren and settled on the Comstock Farm. I have some pictures showing the children on the farm along with some of the animals. She told me stories of the long walk to the one room school house and the difficulty of the teacher also getting there through the snow, sometimes being carried by one of the neighbors. Also, ice skating on a pond near their house.

Is the Comstock Farm still owned by a Mr C. Grey/Gray?
Are there still members of the Gale family living in Warren? I remember my mother mentioning people named Gale and also I have a picture of a young man with a notation under the picture of Clarence Whitney. Does that mean anything to anyone? I have been up to Warren once with my parents and then again about 10-12 years ago. My husband and I found the farm after stopping in at the Town Clerk’s office for directions. I have my mother’s report card for the years of 1916-1917, grade 8 and signed by a K. M. Keogh, teacher.

My great-great-great grandfather, Daniel Comstock was born in Warren, Connecticut in 1763, the son of Abel Comstock and Judith Paine. Would the Comstock farm in the narrative on the Northeast Schoolhouse be related to him? And does he appear in the 1798 tax records referenced in the Whitney Collection?

Hello Patricia,
My father is Victor Krasenics Jr. and my Grandfather was probably one of your uncles, Victor Krasenics Snr.
I am working on a family tree and would love information regarding the Krasenics family. Especially possibly copies of those photos which I would be willing to pay for. Also any information that you might have on the Krasenics family prior to their immigration to the US. I cannot seem to locate them on the Ellis Island website, but know that they went through there.
Sincerely, Kathy Krasenics 310.428.3825, Marina Del Rey, CA
