v     Notes from Selectman’s Meeting
Feb. 1 ,2005

In attendance were Jack Travers, Cal Tanner and Marian Smith.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.

Jack Travers suggested the possibility of having a land use booklet printed in order to simplify the following of procedures.
Pertinent telephone numbers would be  listed. This will be discussed further.

Jack stated that the town needs to refinance our Resource and Recovery bonds by April. The town plans to hire Vera Stearns, a bond advisor, to help with this process. A town meeting will have to be held to authorize the refinancing.

The trash and recycle contract will be up on July 1. Jack will prepare a new contract for bid. Our garbage tonnage has increased while our recycling tonnage has decreased. Recycling  costs are 50% less than garbage.  There was discussion as to whether it would be prudent for the town to handle the recycling. It is believed the town could realize a savings of $220.00 per ton.

The snow removal process is in writing and there was a motion to adopt the written policy. The motion passed.
