Joseph and Betty Barnes
Hello Everyone,
My beloved grandfather and grandmother were summer residents of Warren for decades. Their names are Joseph (Joe) and Elizabeth (Betty) Barnes, and their farm was on the East side of Angevine Road, near the Tanner place and just above the steep hill above the old chicken farm.
I spent many glorious days as a child in Warren. Recently I purchased a piece of the old farm — a dream of indescribable magnitude come true.
Does anyone remember Joe and Betty? Does anyone have any stories to share?

we were the next house up the rd, same side. nancy was my best friend all thru our childhood days. we played “little animals” by the hour in the attic area. we camped out first, in the old shed down by the rd below the barn, til joe thought it wasn’t safe for us any longer. and that was the birth of the “little house” out in the field. we read archie comics, ate those nasty little boxes of cereal and windy was our constant companion. whenever we wanted to do anything that was sure to elicit the answer no, we went straight to joe; two little girls, a deep breath and a whopper of a tale of reasoning…i think he appreciated our creativity…once we even road our bikes to mt tom pond….to, not back…there were picnics in missionary meadow, across the road, aboard the lift on the back of the tractor; the frogs in the reflecting pool; gorging on plums from the tree down the steps from the terrace; scary swims in the pond and explorations over the spillway and all the way down the brook to the rd; and flo and naps and summer lunches and winter skating with camp fires and hot cocoa, and quietly reading in joe’s study in front of the fire, til we were kicked out for joe and betty’s tea time/cocktail hour. there were whole family get togethers, and then i think our parents kept in touch after we all grew apart, and the last time i saw betty, i took her to pick up her car from the garage, somewhere…i may have been in warren still, or recently moved to sharon, i can’t remember which…since i’ve been in sharon since 1976! no matter how long ago, the barnes family played a major role in my “formative years”, that seem like just yesterday, and their influence on my life will remain tomorrow and forever. and, it wouldn’t surprise me at all if i knew you as a wee baby!!!!

I did a search on my maiden name and could not believe that more people out there have the same name as me. My name is Betty Barnes. Though i am currently married I will turn 40 this year. That was the name my parents gave me.
My Father was Known as Ed Barnes and his family is rather large. I think there was two familys together there. Things we kept to the parents and children was never told things back then. I think there may be 15 I will ask my parents for the correct names of their parents this weekend March 20, 2007. If you think this is any thing let me know I can always ask my father he may rember things if the familys have been spread out. I live in another state they are in New York.
