Selectman’s Meeting  October 2, 2004

In attendence were Jack Travers, Cal Tanner and Linda Kennedy.
The minutes of  the September 20th meeting were read and approved.

The next business was time for public comment.  Two Warren residents spoke asking if the town should reply to the September 26 article in The New York Times concerning the sale of Joe Cicio’s commercial property in town. They said that the article made Warren look like an abandoned mining town.  Mr. Cicio envisioned Warren more like Washington Depot with a restaurant, fancy food shop and antique shops. He commented that he never thought he’d own a town.
Residents took issue with the condescending comments about the town.  It was decided that a letter written by Blake Levitt and printed in a subsequent New York Times would suffice for the time being. Both New York Times articles are available at the Warren Library.

The next order of business was the sand bids.  Warren averages 2,500 tons of sand yearly.  Bids per ton are as follows:  $1465  Stone Construction

1398  Stoney Brook
1617  AJ Norland

Jack authorised a town meeting for October 28th to discuss a change in an ordinance for motor vehicles.  Also, building permits will no longer be issued for additional buildings to residents who are not current with their property taxes.

The generator project is almost finished and needs a roof to be complete.
