Notes from the Selectmen’s Meeting Sept. 7, 2004

Jack Travers, Marion Smith and Cal Tanner were in attendance. Linda Kennedy read the minutes of the Aug. 16th meeting and they were approved.

Jack said the winter sand bids will be sent out.

This reporter commented that the new playground at the Town beach has been a success. Climbing and sliding was enjoyed by many children.

A motion to invite a representative from the State Treasurer’s Office to come to Warren to discuss health  insurance plans was passed.  Nancy Rickert will present a plan that provides similar coverage, but rates would be reduced.  A dental plan may also be possible.

Northeast Utilities wants to do an energy evaluation. This would be free of charge.

The Red Cross shelter agreement  needs to be renewed.

The Permanent Committee on the Status of Women has invited a Warren representative to attend a dinner meeting to discuss the global issue of trafficking in persons.

The recycling report is due to come.

The New Milford V.N.A. sent their billing late and will have to go into the next fiscal year.  Jack has asked the Bd. of Finance to pay the bill.

The generator project is underway.
